Potchefstroom Gimnasium is hosting three Noordvaal boys' hockey tournaments in Potchefstroom from Thursday, 30 July, to Saturday, 1 August.
The under-14, under-16 and under-19A sections are using the Gimmie Astro and NWU Astro facilities. Gimmies' own teams are included in each age group, alongside visiting schools such as Monument, Midstream College, Rustenburg, Secunda, Pietersburg, Nelspruit, Eldoraigne and Menlopark.
The tournament is in its sixteenth year and brings 36 teams to town. Organiser Soekie Coetzen said the event gives visiting schools a chance to experience Potchefstroom while creating a useful boost for local businesses and hospitality providers.
Pool matches lead into quarter-finals and semi-finals on Friday, with the final placing matches scheduled for Saturday. The published opening fixtures include Gimmies against Kempton Park, Eldoraigne and Nelspruit across the two astro venues.
