About this opportunity.

North-West University's South African Centre for Digital Language Resources is recruiting a researcher for the African Wordnet Project. The Potchefstroom-based role combines academic planning, digital language-resource research, training and day-to-day project management with the UNISA node and other collaborators.

WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES

Responsibilities.

  • Develop training events, short courses, workshop materials and supporting documentation for the ESCALATOR programme.
  • Coordinate African Wordnet and ESCALATOR events, collaborators, databases and training resources.
  • Contribute to teaching, workshop facilitation, research, publications and conference participation.
  • Support strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, funding proposals and technical project reporting.

Key requirements.

  • A Master's degree at NQF level 9 in digital language resources, linguistics, natural-language processing, human-language technologies or a related field.
  • At least three years' academic project-management experience.
  • At least three years' digital language-resource creation and human-language-technologies research experience.
  • Experience coordinating and training project workers or collaborators, working with lexicographical resources such as wordnets, and presenting workshops.
